“Be Still and Know that I am God,” Give Meaning to Your Life through Prayer, Meditation and other Contemplative Practices
|
We live in challenging times. For me, my faith has lifted me up to give me peace, comfort and hope in a chaotic world. Feeling overwhelmed? Here’s a prayer to help you – prayer for being overwhelmed
Meditation, prayer and contemplative writing have transformed my life. This website is an outward expression of my own spiritual journey and my desire to help others find peace and purpose in their daily lives. The answer to finding this peace and purpose is not outside of ourselves, but it is found by going within and merging our hearts with our Creator. |

Like what happens to so many people, I had stuffed down a lifetime of hurts and heartaches. These wounds were never addressed. No one wants to deal with pain, so denial and busyness became my closest friends. But striving, achieving and constantly searching outside of myself finally took it’s toll. On the outside, I had achieved material success. On the inside, I was emotionally and spiritually bankrupt. I turned to meditation to help me stop the insanity, slow down and become fully present as opposed to sleep walking through life. I began to practice conscious living. The Psalmist says to, “Be still and know that I am God.” Being still is not easy in our fast-paced world. If you want to find the true meaning of “be still” read my post. The meaning will surprise you! |

The spiritual path is taken one step at a time. Sometimes we move forward. Sometimes we stumble and fall down. Sometimes we may even climb mountains. Right now I’ve been in a very deep valley, caring for an aging parent and struggling to start a business. I’ve fallen behind on posting and adding the resources that I wanted to add to the website. But I’ve learned through the words of the Psalmist that even though I walk through the valley, God is with me. And in the words of Paul, “In all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” |
In this deep valley I have been in, I have gone deeper within, more than any other time before. I have returned to my writing as a way to heal. Prayer and silence have been my two chosen forms of meditation. There are three resources, or tools, that I use that have helped me tremendously on my spiritual path. I wanted to share these tools with you on the Guidance Tool Kit page.
On this spiritual journey, it’s important to discover one’s strengths and talents and use them to the fullest. Knowing how we are wired helps to live life with more joy. God created each of us with unique talents and abilities. Since I’m so passionate about this, I was asked to contribute to “The Strengths Edge” – a free e-book with 25 stories of people sharing their strengths.
It’s been a joy to receive comments from all over the world when someone reads The Guided Life Ezine. I learn a lot from my readers! Thank you to all who encourage me too!
The Guided Life ezine is the result of thoughts, observations and lessons learned on this spiritual path I’ve chosen. The content pops into my head, usually in the early mornings and I scribble as fast as I can to take down what feels like God’s dictation. So, I can’t take the credit for the inspiration. I just feel like a messenger. You can receive The Guided Life by filling in your name and primary email address. It’s free. I’ll also give you “The Secret to Successful Prayer,” a sermon that changed my prayer life, and cut number one, my transformation story, from my meditation CD, “Be Still and Know that I am God.” Both items are gifts.
Thank you for visiting and please come back to check out what new resources may pop up.
Peace and Blessings,
Jackie Trottmann
