Perhaps you are impatient because you are waiting on an important answer of some sort. Or, maybe you lack patience, because, let’s face it, we live in a world where everything is supposed to happen now. Nothing happens fast enough, from standing in a line at the grocery store to a business venture that you are working on.

Take a few breaths and read this prayer. Turn your patience into rest.

Dear Lord,

I come to you to ask for help.

I am impatient.

I feel that time is running out!

I want to make a difference.

Each morning I wake up to the news of more senseless violence, shootings, children in poverty, the homeless, sickness, natural disasters….. It is overwhelming.

Life is short!

So much need, so little time to help.

Forgive me, but, unlike you, I don’t have all eternity on earth.

That is why I am impatient!

But, as I take this time to pray, I must remember that it is you that is in charge, not I.

When I allow your loving presence to flow through me, I can make a difference. I accept the fact that I may never see the fruits of my actions in this lifetime.

Help me to cease my constant striving and rest in you.

It’s not easy.

I am impatient.

Like the rest of the world, I want everything now!

But help me to be mindful that I am not of this world.

Through you all things are possible.

Now, I pray that you would help me to believe that, let go of my impatience, and rest in you.

Amen

What would God say about patience? Here’s the word, Patience, from God Notes – Daily Doses of Divine Encouragement.

Patience

You live in a world obsessed with speed and instant gratification.

Anything worthy takes time and patience. A mother does not and cannot hurry the process of birth. It takes nine months of patience for her child to be  fully ready to be born. She patiently waits, but actively takes care of her baby.

I am birthing ideas and guidance within you when you patiently listen and wait for the outcome to unfold.

When you have patience, you eliminate the need for anxiety.

That ‘s because patience means resting in Me.

Just like a new mother to be, draw upon the power of patience.

The peaceful, purposeful wait will be worth it.
