Together Beats Alone

In the book of Romans, chapter 12 and verses 4-6, Paul says: Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.

Isn’t it wonderful that, as Christians, we get a whole new family! Our brokenness is taken away and we can become whole. We learn how to love through the example of Jesus and, as God’s children; we want what’s best for each other.

But how often do we support each other? We live in a busy world, and I would venture to say that we don’t know a lot about our Christian brothers and sisters because we are caught up in the busyness of life.

There are millions of Americans out of work and that many of these jobs may never return. We are at a crossroads right now where the traditional job market is not the same. There is no longer a guarantee of security in working for an employer. That’s why we have to change the way we think and how we do business.

I have stepped out in faith, leaving a lucrative corporate career to pursue the gifts that God has given me, which are writing, creating and inspiring others. On this spiritual path I have met others who have also stepped out in faith to use their talents and to further God’s kingdom.

The Internet offers artists, writers, authors, song writers, musicians and business owners the opportunity to get out there. Networking has always been the key to generating new business and the Internet is a great place for that.

It takes thousands of dollars to publish a book, reserve studio time, hire musicians to play, purchase materials to paint a painting or create greeting cards – not to mention lots of time. Many times these people invest this money only to have their books or CDs collect dust in their basement or garage. Why? Because no one knows about them.

Their purpose in life is stomped out because their art, their expression and God given talents won’t pay the mortgage. Most of the time they have to find other work to pay the bills.

It’s also a lonely life trying to do all this on your own as a business owner. If you are an author, artist, musician, you are in the business of producing your art and selling it. Otherwise, it is just a hobby.

I was struggling until I found a wonderful group of women entrepreneurs called Women of Audacious Faith. I was approached by them to become an integral part of their organization. It is a Christ-centered community of women who support each other in growing their faith AND their business.

To find out more, go to Women of Audacious Faith, or better yet, contact me and we can set up a call so that I can tell you all abut this wonderful community.

Most artists, writers and musicians don’t have a marketing bone in their body. They are almost embarrassed to ask for money for their work.

So, the next time you like something, purchase it if you can or at least pass it along. We’re family and families help one another.

We see the finished product when someone writes a book, creates a CD, a painting, a card or a sculpture, but we really have no idea the amount of faith, courage, time and monetary resources it takes to bring the product to life. Behind every artist is a story, and we usually don’t know the story.

I hope I’ve enlightened you as far as the time and expense that goes into the creative process and at the same time encouraged you to support your Christian family.

If you are a female author, speaker, coach, artist, musician, business owner and want to grow your faith and your business, I’d love for you to check out the Women of Audacious Faith Community.
