Yesterday I wrote about The Law of Attraction and the Christian Faith Part 1 where I shared a true story that happened to me when I attracted a past connection into my life.
I wrapped up that first post by saying that there were two caveats with the asking and receiving process.
Matthew 6:33 says:Â But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
We also need to believe. In the book of Matthew, a man approached Jesus regarding his son. He had first taken his son to his disciples to heal him, but they couldn’t do it. Jesus was, let’s say, a little ticked off. He rebuked the demon and healed the boy.
The disciples were confused and asked Jesus in private why they weren’t able to heal the man’s son. Jesus replied in Matthew 17:10, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
So in using The Law of Attraction in the Christian faith, ask, believe and wait for God to deliver. And, let go of the outcome. God is good at throwing curve balls. That, however, is an entirely new subject for another article!

March 25, 2018 9:45 pmThe difference between the philosophies of Abraham Hicks, Wayne Dwyer, and Buddhist mindfulness is the Person of Jesus, Son of God.
Worship is the element that philosophies lack. Philosophies are of the mind. Worship is the overwhelming awareness of the Divine as a Person – Jesus, who is also One with the Father and the Holy Spirit, and our Oneness in Love.

Thank you for sharing. I appreciate your concerns. I thought it was interesting that you say you “found great benefit from Mindfulness Meditation.” Mindfulness has its roots in Buddhism, so you have embraced this Buddhist practice (I’m assuming) to deepen your relationship with God and to become more mindful. Does that make you dangerous to be sharing a Buddhist practice? Does that compromise your Christian faith? I think not. I think that makes you more awake which is what Jesus always preached, to keep awake.
When Jesus was getting ready to leave to fulfill his earthly mission, he told the disciples in John 16:12-13, “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.”
I believe we all need to interpret Scripture and what it means to “us.” I believe that God speaks to us, the truth to us, and that the Holy Spirit helps interpret that meaning for us. I’ve read many Bible commentaries on the “interpretation” of Scripture according to experts. I didn’t like what the passage was “supposed to mean.” I like that the Bible speaks to me. I believe that it’s called The Living Word because it is alive and teaches us in new ways all of the time. My hope is that I help open people’s minds, hearts and imaginations to experience God’s Word in new ways that mean something to them. Google how many people actually read the Bible. It’s pretty few.
I love my spiritual director. My first spiritual director was a Catholic nun. My current one was a former Presbyterian minister. They have helped me grow exponentially in my relationship with God.
Thank you again for your comment. I do have a big heart. That is to help people become all that God created them to be, to not have black and white thinking, to question, to be open, and to follow Christ, our example of how to live. Forgive me, but I don’t see false teaching in that.

May 27, 2016 9:28 amAs s Christian who has found great benefit from Mindfulness Meditation, as well as Christian Prayer, I was intrigued by your offering of guidance. Reading further into your interpretations, however, I am concerned.
Please be careful, as someone who is specifically offering spiritual guidance from a Christian perspective, not to misrepresent scripture. Weaving in New Age Ideas and stating that the meaning and intent behind them is = to God’s words and the meaning and intent is dangerously close to acting as what scripture calls a false teacher. Wayne Dyer has some great ideas, but not all of them are great… as some of them line up with scripture. He frequently mentions God, and sometimes quotes Him, but so did Satan. I’m not even saying all false teachers are overtly trying to mimic Satan’s tactics… some are simply unaware that their ideas have been influenced by culture and alternative spiritual paths to the extent that what they now are teaching as God’s word is actually a composite various of religious paths, and consequently not teaching, as Jesus plainly states of Himself, “I am The Way and The Light and The Path” & whoever seeks to know the one true God must get there by way of Him only. Some have accepted the idea that Jesus is one of many paths to God, and by teaching this, will surely put others on a path that isn’t of His design. It seems that you have a big heart and desire to be of service to the Lord, so I would encourage you to consider finding a new “Spiritual Director”… perhaps with the guidance of the Lutheran minister God recently put in your path… Maybe that’s why He led you to be reunited with them in this particular season of your life. He will go to great lengths to watch over His sheep.

I am familiar with Abraham Hicks and also Dr. Wayne Dyer. It’s been a while since I’ve read any Abraham Hicks material – so I don’t wish to criticize because I’d have to go back and review it – but share your disconnect with God on that front. However, Dr. Dyer very much referenced God and Jesus in almost all of his writings. I was brought up in the Christian faith and I celebrate my Christian faith and the teachings of Jesus. So, for me, I believe that there is a God and that God is the Creator of all things and created us to love us. While one cannot truly define God, and while God is Spirit, I like to think of God as a person, as Jesus describes God as a loving Father figure. So, I use God as opposed to Universe.
In the first part of the article in the LOA, I state that God created ALL laws of the universe. There is the law of gravity. If you step off a building, you “will” fall. The LOA was created by God. We are created in God’s image, so we are creators too. God created the universe through his imagination. We create through our imagination. Look at everything in our world. It was created and manifested into form. Every bit of technology, our mobile phones, were first an idea which came into being. Cars, paper, coffee, buildings, everything started as a thought.
We attract what we think about. Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” Jesus was telling us how powerful our minds are. In Mark 9:23 he says, “All things can be done for the one who believes.”
I believe that when I intentions are true, when we feel lead by God – inspired by God – people, opportunities and resources come to our aid.
To end, I would add more words from Jesus that said in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

April 4, 2016 9:06 amHi, a friend of mine introduced me to Abraham Hicks, Dr. Wayne Dyer and Law of Attraction. However, this has confused me because I believe in God. As I was reading up on LOA, I felt good but I also felt a disconnect from God. I think either you have to believe in GOD or LOA which believes in the Universe. Are you saying with your article that you believe in God more? That the LOA is not following the belief in God. Im not reading up on Abraham Hicks anymore.. I want to focus on God. I believe in Jesus was our savior.

Thank you for commenting and sharing what you believe. I didn’t respond right away because I wanted to embellish what you stated instead of just commenting back with an I agree.
I believe in God. I believe that God created all of us to love us and to have an intimate relationship with us.
I believe that Jesus is the Son of God (Emmanuel, God with us) and that Jesus came to live in human form to show
us how to live. By that I mean that we can do the impossible with God’s help. That we can have peace and joy. That we can overcome. “By myself I can do nothing.” John 5:30, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” John 15:11, “This is my command: Love each other.” John 15:17. “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew

In regards to heaven, Jesus also told us about God’s Kingdom and that it is here and now. I like the King James version that goes further to say within. “Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:21
I believe that Jesus overcame death and that he sent the Holy Spirit to comfort and help us. “I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.” John 14:16 KJV
I believe in the trinity. Do I understand how that is possible? Not at all. That is one of the mysteries of the Christian faith that I believe is true. For me, it will remain a mystery.
I believe that salvation is much greater than going to heaven. Jesus was (and still is) in the transformation business. His message is to transform lives and transform the world. He came to save us from the bondage of fear, doubts, anxiety and hopelessness. I like The Message version when Jesus says, “You are the light of the world.”
Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand, shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 The Message
So, my desire is to live life in Christ consciousness and aspire to be filled with his love and compassion.
That’s a little bit what I believe. :)

I was wondering what you believe. I believe In God the Father, Jesus Christ His son who shed Hs heavenly glory coming to earth. He died and rose again. Sent the Holy Spirit to help us. The trinity. I believe the only way to heaven is through what Jesus Christ did on the cross.
So, I would like to know do you agree?

My definition (that I put on my Facebook page) is: Coincidences are tangible reminders that God is paying attention to us. So, I think that God is paying extra attention to you AND that you are extra aware. Keep up the awareness! You will be smiling a lot!
