The world wants to steal your peace. Your mind wants to steal your peace. Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” John 14:27
The world and your mind will steal your peace by what you focus on. Focus on the media bombarding you with images and messages of fear and unrest and you will receive more unrest. Focus on feelings of fear, anxiety, anger, grief with your thoughts, and you will not have peace.
If peace is what you seek, focus your thoughts on this prayer for peace.
A Prayer for Peace
Dear God,
I need your peace now.
Silence my thoughts of confusion.
Silence my thoughts of anxiety.
Silence my thoughts of grief or despair.
Silence my thoughts of hurt or anger.
When there is chaos and turmoil surrounding me, shelter and protect me with your peace and loving, powerful presence.
As I take this time to stop and pray, fill me with your peaceful presence.
With each breath I take, I breathe in your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Help me to focus on peace instead of unrest.
I surrender my unrest to you so that I may receive peace.
Help me to be a spark that ignites peace in others.
Amen

October 12, 2016 3:42 pmHi Shelly,
I am sorry to hear that you are struggling. It’s really important to have support from people around you. If you have a church, I would definitely return. We were not created to live life in isolation. So, seek help of a pastor or group that you can connect with.
Peace to you,
Jackie

April 5, 2016 9:42 pmHi Bev,
Thank you for posting. I’m glad it was needed. : ) Your sign off, “Peace be with you,” was the reading from John 20:19 at church this Sunday. Our pastor explained that in the Greek translation it was really peace “to” you, meaning that Jesus was “giving” them peace. I thought that was rather cool.
So, peace to you – in return,
Jackie

February 6, 2015 6:52 pmCatherine,
Thank you again for your comment. I like that you used the word “safe.” That is what I want to provide, a safe place where people can come. Everyone feels loneliness and anxious at times. We are all connected and alike at our core. If more people believed that, we would have peace in the world.
Peace to you,
Jackie
