The following prayer to overcome fear, anxiety and worry, will help you focus your thoughts on God’s peace and presence.
Instead of focusing on your fear, anxiety, and worry, focus on the words that Jesus said to his disciples. “I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?”
You don’t need to carry any burden on your own. Jesus said, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me. For I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
A yoke is a harness like device that pairs two working animals together. Back in biblical times it was used a lot. The yoke lessened the burden of a single ox doing all of the work, thus, making the work easy. We forget that we are connected to Jesus and that Jesus walks beside us. If we truly grasp that, how could we be fearful, anxious, and worried?
May this prayer help you to begin that focus to overcome your fear, anxiety, and worry. Use this prayer whenever anxiety, fear, or worry start to take hold.
A Prayer to Overcome Fear, Anxiety and Worry
Most gracious and loving God,
I don’t know what to do.
I am filled with anxiety, fear, and worry.
These feelings have taken over me, and I can no longer control them.
Help.
I can’t keep living like this anymore.
It’s not living.
I feel paralyzed, trapped, with no way out.
Help me find a way out of my anxiety, fear, and worry.
As I say this prayer, I realize that I have been pushing you away, along with pushing away your love, and your peace.
I’ve allowed these thoughts of anxiety, fear, and worry to take control.
I forgot what your Word says, that there is no fear in love, and that perfect love casts out fear.
I forgot that your love for me is perfect. You love me just as I am, and especially when I am anxious, fearful, and worried.
I forgot that love never fails.
All of this anxiety, fear, and worry has blocked your peace that surpasses all understanding.
I choose to surrender this anxiety, fear, and worry to you.
Right now, I will just sit and be still in your presence.
I welcome your loving, healing presence beside me and within me.
Fill me with your peace.
Fill me with your love.
Cast out my anxiety, fear, and worry.
Whenever anxious, fearful, and worried thoughts return, I will tell them to, be still – hush!
I will focus instead on your loving, peaceful presence leading me and guiding me.
I will remember that you are always with me.
So, I will trust you more.
In the name of your Son, the Prince of Peace,
Amen
What if instead of praying to God, you felt God speaking to you? That’s what God Notes is like.

May 16, 2020 6:55 pmA lot of the time it’s a child thing and I beg any parent, uncle, aunt, guardian, etc.to pray for their child and nudge them out of that. I grew up like that and it seemed an innocent enough thing, but it’s not! Yahshuanity(Yahshua) requires that you witness to people, that you worship openly, that you might need to set up bible study and prayer meetings in your home, that you aren’t afraid to stand out or obey, that you can ask for help, that you can forge friendships that help you and the other people, and that you might need to convey your thoughts in a room of people or more(different than reciting).
To me, it’s the biggest problem that you can have if you desire to be a Yahshuan, because it makes you run away, disobey, embarrassed, reserved, miss opportunities, passive, or silent when you should be doing the opposite. Please nudge your children out of this and pray for them. Plus, if you notice a person that is shy, you might want to let them know the dangers of it(Ezek 33 or 35 chap–one on those–tells us to warn). Believe me; it’s the silent killer; you may wake up one day old without friends, without children, without a spouse/with a negative spouse when it could have been different, without a job/poorer than you were meant to be, and–worst of all–it is an oxymoron to eternal salvation!

October 16, 2018 6:53 pmYes Jackie your encouragement always lifts me up…..but it is so hard not to worry about stress and fear whenever it seems to just know when to smack me in the face….my time always gets me to right where I have no choice to haft to borrow money or I would suffer the consequences…..I have prayed to god but is it possible he doesn’t want to listen to me anymore. ….I am trying to be obedient but have a lot to clean up…..I know God doesn’t want me to struggle just to keep the utilities going.etc. I sure don’t want to be complaining but I know I have got my bible in front of me and the only thing I can do is pray.

February 3, 2018 9:48 amHi Tamjo,
I’m sorry to hear about your parents’ health. I lost my mother in October of 2017 and she had a lot of health issues for the last seven years leading up to her passing. My father-in-law has just entered hospice at the age of 100. So, I understand the worry and stress involved. I’m glad that you found the prayer helpful.
The mind is a complicated and wonderful part of us. Unfortunately, it can be wild and high-jack our peace. When that happens, we cause ourselves unneeded suffering. Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit. We need that to control our minds.
Sending loving thoughts and prayers your way.
Peace to you,
Jackie

February 2, 2018 11:34 pmI was seeking some help with my worry over my parents illnesses. It’s been taking a toll on me. I felt like I couldn’t reach God because of all the worrisome, anxiety ridden thoughts that were inundating my mind. This prayer really put things in perspective. Worrying won’t change a thing. It won’t add to ones life span. God is in control. Thank you.

October 31, 2017 7:10 amHi Penelope,
You are welcome. Thank you for commenting. I heard that the words, “Fear not!” were mentioned 365 times in the Bible. That means one reminder for every day to fear not! :) A good reminder indeed. I have also heard that worry is praying for something you don’t want. That’s good to keep top of mind, too.
Peace to you,
Jackie

October 16, 2017 6:10 pmHi Sherrie,
Thank you for being vulnerable in sharing here. I can feel your pain and am sorry that you feel lost and broken. You’ve recognized that you’ve alienated them, so, that is a big step. If love is truly there, it will always be there. You can ask for forgiveness. True, you can’t take back words, but you can make things right between you. I pray that God will give you the courage and words to make things right and that you will forgive yourself in the process so that you can heal. Then you will no longer feel lost or broken.
Peace to you,
Jackie
