Faith Filled Living
What does it mean to pray without ceasing? “Pray without ceasing,” comes from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus.”
There are probably more hectic days than not when you may find it hard to even pray, let alone pray without ceasing! This phrase has always jumped out at me. I wanted to share what this phrase means to me and hope that you… Continue reading
These 4 promises Jesus gave to hold onto were given when he appeared to his disciples. Easter is a miraculous day in our Christian faith. It is the day that Christ conquered sin and death and rose again.
These promises are something to not let go of, but to hold onto always.
Easter Promise Number 1: I Go to Prepare a Place for You
After the Last Supper, Jesus tells the disciples, “I go to prepare a place for you.”… Continue reading
Sometimes we have to wait. This little video was based on the word, Eagle, with Isaiah 40:31 as the inspiration behind it. It’s one of my favorite Bible verses: “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
This verse has gotten me through many difficult times when I was weary and could hardly put… Continue reading
All week there were predictions of thunderstorms, but we never saw a drop of rain.
I asked Robert if it was supposed to rain Friday. He said they were predicting thunderstorms between 4-6 AM Friday morning, but, otherwise, it was supposed to clear off.
There is a group of folks that get together from our church each month for an outing of some sort. It’s always on a Friday morning and sometimes can last all day. I have some standing… Continue reading
When I saw this little baby resting in his father’s arms at a church service, this was a visual example (and reminder) of what it means to rest in the Lord.
Jesus says in the Bible verse, Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (NRSV)
We live in a society where rest is discouraged. Coming from the sales profession the motto is,… Continue reading
May these words help to illustrate the gift and power of God’s grace.
Robert and I took my mother to our little family friendly eatery for lunch.
Always people watching, I noticed a little girl around the age of two or three following her mother like a little chick. She was cute as one too with her blond pigtails and perfectly coordinated pink outfit.
Her wide blue eyes blinked up at me and held my gaze. She… Continue reading
The very first Guided Life Ezine I wrote was about wishing for a burning bush to show us the way. That’s because we all want guidance. We all want certainty.
We all have doubts, fears, worry, and anxiety from time to time. It’s part of being human. When you have a crisis in health, when you suffer a loss of any kind, unemployment, a relationship, a home, it’s a vulnerable and uncertain place to be.
But it… Continue reading
The following prayer to overcome fear, anxiety and worry, will help you focus your thoughts on God’s peace and presence.
Instead of focusing on your fear, anxiety, and worry, focus on the words that Jesus said to his disciples. “I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at… Continue reading
God’s will or God’s call – it’s something as Christians that we seek. We want a blue print, don’t we? Just tell me the steps and tell me what to do. But I believe that God’s will and our will look remarkably the same.
At the same time, God’s will is also something that we can be terrified of. We’re terrified because when we give up our will we are giving up control. If you subscribe to The Guided Life… Continue reading
As Christians we are familiar with prayer, but meditation has not been a spiritual practice for many. In prayer we are doing all of the talking! Meditation allows us to listen to God.
