All week there were predictions of thunderstorms, but we never saw a drop of rain.

I asked Robert if it was supposed to rain Friday. He said they were predicting thunderstorms between 4-6 AM Friday morning, but, otherwise, it was supposed to clear off.

There is a group of folks that get together from our church each month for an outing of some sort. It’s always on a Friday morning and sometimes can last all day. I have some standing commitments on Friday, so Robert usually goes solo.

This month’s trip was going to the Missouri Botanical Garden, which is a feast for the eyes and the senses.

For some reason, I’ve been waking up around 4:17 AM. Just as predicted, there was a thunderstorm. I awoke to booming thunder and crashing lightning. Rain pummeled the roof. By 6 AM it had cleared away, just as predicted.

Meteorology has gotten very sophisticated with its ability to predict the weather. But even with all the various tools, how often has your local television meteorologist gotten it wrong? How many times is a favorite program interrupted to announce a pending storm?

In St. Louis, the weathercastors seem to incite panic, especially when there is an opportunity for snow. I find myself rushing to the grocery store to buy a week’s worth of groceries as if preparing for Armageddon! Then the blizzard prediction turns out to be a mere dusting of snow. I still have unused fire wood left from the last blizzard prediction. ; )

Thank goodness, we can count on God’s predictions!

Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. Psalm 23:2

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil, for you are with me. Psalm 23:4

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge. Psalm 18:2

For surely, I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Jeremiah 29:11

I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued my faithfulness to you. Jeremiah 31:3

For he has said, I will never leave you or forsake you. So, we can say with confidence, the Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. Hebrews 13:5

May you hold onto these predictions, to weather any storm that life throws at you, because God’s predictions are true.

If you are looking for more encouraging words each day, you’ll find them in my book: God Notes – “ Daily Doses of Divine Encouragement. I could have not predicted the response. Here’s what others have experienced:

When I purchased God Notes, I already had three (3) devotional books that I read every morning. God Notes is my fourth devotional and it has been the book that I now reach for first every day. The words touch my soul and it feels as if God is truly talking to me. Thank you, Jackie for sharing what God said to you. This book is a winner! Ronda Blacker

I have only had this book about a week but the Holy Spirit has spoken to me through it each and every day I have opened it! Put together with all the other resources that Jackie has available, I have been able to grow in depth and peace in my walk with God. Thank you Lord for bringing forth this book through Jackie! May she and all who read it be blessed! Amen. Tiffany H.
