Feeling bent out of shape? Our choir director always says, “Blessed are the flexible, for they shall bend and not break.”
If you are easily irritated, frustrated, or quick to go on a rant, you may want to stop what you are doing and go meditate. Meditation is much greater than a tool used for relaxation.
Meditation will help you not get bent out of shape by transforming your actions from reacting to responding.
We live in a society that is constantly connected. Stressing and striving are rewarded and more is expected. Emotions can be wound very tight.
The psalmist says, “Be still and know that I am God.” When you still the irritated, frustrated, anxious thoughts, you create space for peace to enter in.
The Perpetrators that Cause you to Get Bent Out of Shape
Someone cut you off on the highway. Is it fair? No. Is it irritating, yes! But there will always be people cutting you off on the highway. Does it serve you to get bent out of shape over it? No. Do you allow this action to affect your day? Probably. These irritations will rob you of peace. Be still, let it go.
When you learn to quiet the mind you create space for peace to enter. You won’t find yourself easily bent out of shape. You will respond in a positive way instead of reacting in frustration or anger.
